Trials and tribulations of selling homes

A very experienced real estate agent once told me that “price overcomes all objections”. Years later, I can now say with confidence that this is true. Another agent told me that there are two primary aspects of the home selling process realtors and their sellers may control: price and presentation. Indeed, this has proven to be true as well. But what is an agent to do if a home has languished on the market – with few showings and no offer in sight – despite extensive marketing, broker open houses, public open houses, desperate begging, etc.? Particularly when a seller refuses to lower the price or make improvements to increase the home’s appeal?

Perhaps one of the more obvious answers is one that all negotiators know very well. Compromise.
